In short: DroidFile collects nothing. Your files move between your phone and your Mac over the cable, and nowhere else.
This policy explains how DroidFile for macOS handles information. DroidFile is a Mac app for browsing, copying, moving, renaming and deleting files on an Android device connected to your Mac. It runs entirely on your Mac, and there is no server that receives your data.
1. We do not collect your data
DroidFile does not collect, store or send personal information. There is no account to create, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no tracking identifier. The app has no backend, so there is nowhere for your data to be sent.
2. Your device and your files
To manage files, DroidFile connects to your Android device over USB using the device's file transfer mode (MTP), or through Android Debug Bridge (adb) for emulators and devices you choose to connect that way. It reads and writes files only to list folders and carry out the actions you ask for: previewing, copying, moving, renaming, creating folders and deleting. File names and contents stay on your phone and your Mac.
3. Information we do not collect
- Your files or their contents: documents, photos, videos and audio.
- File names, folder names or storage paths.
- Contacts, messages, call logs, location or calendar data.
- Advertising identifiers or device identifiers used for tracking.
- Usage analytics, behavior profiles or personal accounts.
4. Information stored on your Mac
DroidFile saves a few preferences locally, such as the view mode, whether the preview panel is shown and the version of the terms you accepted. They stay in the app's private storage on your Mac and are removed when you delete the app and its data.
5. Internet access
DroidFile works without an internet connection and never sends your files anywhere. When you use adb, the app talks only to the adb server running on your own Mac. If you open a file in another app, that app's own privacy policy applies to what happens next.
6. The App Store and crash reports
DroidFile is distributed through the Mac App Store, and Apple handles purchases, installs and updates under its own policies. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your Mac's settings, Apple may provide technical crash details such as the Mac model, macOS version, app version and the crash stack trace. These reports are used only to fix bugs and are not intended to contain your files or personal information.
7. Third-party services
DroidFile includes no advertising networks, analytics providers or third-party trackers. Apart from distribution through the App Store, no third party receives data from the app.
8. Security
Your files never leave your phone and your Mac, so keeping them safe depends mainly on those devices. Keep macOS and Android up to date and use a screen lock. Files you delete from your phone with DroidFile are removed permanently: Android has no trash, and we keep no copies, so we cannot restore them.
9. Children's privacy
DroidFile is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
10. Data requests
We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete. To remove the preferences stored on your Mac, delete the app.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
